Sedation Dentistry
Does dental anxiety make you have second thoughts about obtaining necessary dental care? If so, we offer oral conscious sedation to help alleviate fear and anxiety and provide a more comfortable, treatment experience.
Oral Conscious Sedation
Oral conscious sedation involves the taking of a small pill about an hour before your dental treatment. Once your procedure begins, you should be in a deep state of relaxation. The pill should not cause you to fall totally asleep. In fact, you should be alert enough to communicate with our dental team at all times; however, the pill should make you feel so relaxed that you do not experience pain or discomfort during the procedure. Once the treatment is complete, you may not even remember that it was performed at all.
With oral conscious sedation, you don’t have to let fear of the dentist keep you from getting necessary dental care! Please contact us today with any questions you may have about sedation dentistry, or to schedule an appointment with one of our experienced Calgary dentists.
Mercury-Free Dentistry
Modern dental techniques have significantly improved upon the metal and alloy materials often used for filling cavities. Those materials typically contained small levels of mercury, a substance which is known to have certain health risks.
White, Tooth-coloured fillings are now the standard among most dental practices, and Smile 32 Dentistry is no exception. Tooth-coloured fillings are made of a completely mercury-free composite material, which not only looks more like your natural teeth, but also provides even stronger reinforcement for the affected tooth. With tooth-coloured fillings, your teeth are also less apt to fractures and sensitivity when compared with metal fillings. Plus, by eliminating mercury materials from our practice, we contribute to the health of our environment by doing our part to reduce hazardous waste.
We welcome the opportunity to partner with you in realizing your smile design dreams.
Laser Dentistry
There have been many advances in the field of dentistry over the years that have dramatically changed the way we can provide standard dental care, and laser technology is one of them. Laser dentistry allows us to better-perform an array of treatments that used to require patients to sit longer in the dental chair, experience higher levels of discomfort, and make more time in their schedules for recovery. For instance: our team can use laser gum treatment techniques to provide a durable seal between the gums and teeth after a deep cleaning. This can reduce discomfort, bleeding, and the risk of infection. Plus, it can significantly minimize recovery time when compared to previous techniques. Laser dentistry can also be used to remove excess gum tissue for patients who have a “gummy” smile, providing a less invasive way to renew the appearance of the gums. These advanced options can lead to faster healing and reduced swelling after the procedure, not to mention extremely precise treatment and terrific results.

what is a waterlase®?
Advanced laser dentistry such as the Waterlase from Biolase Technology has basically eliminated the pain that has been so closely associated with dental care. Instead of the traditional dental drill, Waterlase uses high powered, laser-energized water. There is no heat or vibration within the mouth. Instead, the Waterlase relies on speed and precision to gently and quietly cut teeth. The high-powered laser is effective at cleaning out debris and bacteria from the mouth, acting almost like a mini power-washer. Some procedures done with Waterlase can even forgo local anesthetic, making it a great option for quick, non-invasive cavity removal. If you’ve avoided the dentist due to anxiety, Waterlase may be the ideal dental treatment for you.
Waterlase can be used on multiple procedures including:
- Removal of deca
- Cavity preparation
- Gum disease treatment
- Cosmetic gum recontouring
Benefits of Waterlase
Advanced laser dentistry technology allows us to provide more conservative treatments. There are no stitches necessary, and patients who undergo laser gum treatment usually experience zero discomfort and swelling after the procedure. Because laser technology promotes accelerated healing, recovery is quicker and more comfortable.
